Semmering Studios Dot Com

Sapitot Creative is proud to announce the launch of the Semmering Studios website, version 1.0. Semmering is a photography studio based in Kansas City, run by Sionnie LaFollette, wife of another Sapitot client, Mr. Khorky Custer Khrusty himself (pictured above in all his gold glory)! Granted, this version is a very small mini-site at the moment, but further development into a full portfolio site will occur in the near future. Many thanks to Brian Schilt for his outstanding coding work, excellent job as always!

You can check out the beginnings of the site here, www.semmeringstudios.com

Greensburg Ekit

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

greensburg photo

I just posted one of the last projects I worked on at Discovery, an ekit design for Planet Green’s new show Greensburg, into the web portfolio of the Sapitot site. The show, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, documents the rebuilding of Greensburg, KS after being completely destroyed by an F5 tornado into a totally “green” city. The premise seems pretty interesting. Make sure to tune in, the show starts in mid June.

Like a Rolling Stone…

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

After only 8 months at the Discovery Channel, I’ve been presented with a new opportunity that I’m extremely excited to take. I will be joining the Travel Channel in a couple of weeks as the only designer (except for the 2 creative directors, of course).

For those of you confused, yes, the Travel Channel used to be owned by Discovery, and yes, I used to be assigned to that account. In the past 4 months it has been in the process of branching off as its own company (owned by Cox Communications), while I’ve been working on a variety of other accounts within Discovery.

Looking forward to a broad new range of projects, challenges, and opportunities for the future. Wish me luck!

Portfolio Catch Up

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Finally caught the portfolio up to the present time, with all the new work I’ve been doing the past 6 months. Just added a couple new logos and new ad concepting series.

Life will also start spinning up with Sapitot Records soon, as Kyle just announced he is returning to the studio in April to start recording his second full length…with a twist. It’s going to be a Christmas album. He’s posted some details on his BLOG.

Spring Cleaning

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

If you’ve been a diligent Sapitot visitor, you would have noticed that I’ve quietly been putting some new pieces into the portfolio.

In addition to new pieces, I’ve also been tinkering with the portfolio format to organize it for faster browsing. The print portfolio is now divided into sections based off project type. Happy browsing!

Portfolio Update

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

Seeing as this is the first news posting of the new year, I would like to wish you all a happy new year. I hope the holidays treated you well. Here’s to a fantastic 2008.

I finally found some spare time to post up some new work that I’ve been doing at my newish job at the Discovery Channel. Some new logos and a web site made the cut. A couple more additional projects will also be added soon.

Site Additions and Happy Holidays

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

After a slight delay, the webfolio has been added to the main navigation at the top of the main Sapitot page. Take a look!

This will be the last news posting of the year (but the blog should remain active). Look for new work to be added to both portfolios soon after the new year. Safe travels and best wishes to you and yours this holiday season from everyone at Sapitot.

New Site

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

Welcome to the new and improved Sapitot web site. After two and a half years of service, it was time to put the last version out to pasture with the other old Sapitots. Take a look around the cleaner navigation, updated content and a first for this site, a blog! My plan is to keep this site much fresher than past sites, so please check back often and give me a poke if I start to slack.

I couldn’t go without saying a HUGE thank you to friend and programming wizard Brian Schilt for all his help in developing the site. It wouldn’t be half of what it is now without you. Thank you for your patience, words of wisdom and good humor over the past 4 months that we worked on development.

The site is still in beta mode, so please let me know if you see anything off kilter and email me at either address to the right. I plan on adding several other pieces to the site in the upcoming weeks, including a web portfolio, so there will be lots going on here.

Thanks for stopping by!

What Clients Are Up To…

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

In an effort to give some well-deserving musical artists exposure to another audience, the Sapiblog will occasionally highlight the activities of our recent clients. By all means, please support these guys, buy a CD, go to a show, show them some love on myspace or your social networking site of choice.

Khorky Custer Khrusty - Our most recent client, who also happens to have put out one of my favorite records of recent memory, Khorky Custer Khrusty Presents the Klangs. With one listen, you’ll be completely hooked on this super-catchy indie rock coming straight out of Kansas City. Myself along with uber-talented illustrator and friend Scott Kaufman designed the packaging of the record, which has been added to the portfolio section. Check Khorky out at his myspace page…www.myspace.com/khorkycusterkhrusty

Mike Grutka - One of Sapitot’s first clients, Mike Grutka is currently racking up a lot of plays on national and independent radio stations across the country with his latest CD, Myself Again. Well deserved for a talented and hard working singer/songwriter, and an all around great guy. I’ve been privileged to design Mike’s last 2 releases and am looking forward to the next time he comes a’knockin. Here’s his website…www.mikegrutka.com Check him out in the NY area. He’s got quite a few shows lined up.

Kyle Moreland - Sapitot Records’ own artist has been noticeably quiet in 2007. After taking a break gigging around the midwest, Kyle settled down in early 2007 to start writing new songs for his next release, and along the way got engaged and married this year! Needless to say, I know a lot of us are looking forward to hearing him back onstage and perhaps on CD in 2008? Time will tell! www.kylemoreland.com

Last, but not least, Lee Bock. Virginia’s best kept secret/country singer/songwriter/nicest IT guy around has just released a new digital-only EP, entitled Self Made Man. This release finds Lee in a very sentimental mood, and he’s captured it perfectly onto tape, or whatever they’re using nowadays. Sapitot was commissioned to design the cover, which is destined to pop up on many an iPod. I also had the pleasure of designing Lee’s first release, both of which can be picked up at CDBaby (Just search under his name). Check out some tunes at his myspace page, www.myspace.com/leebocksongs

There are many other artists who I will update you on in the coming weeks. For now, give these guys a listen and if you like it, pick ‘em up! Tell them Sapitot sent you! As for now, it’s about time for bed. Night!
